Welcome to FGTIS
Tangible interaction is a research field addressing areas at the border of the physical and the digital. For many years, researchers, designers, practitioners and artists around the world have worked on the theoretical and empirical foundations, technical frameworks, the realization of prototypes and the design of interfaces. However, there is a high potential for future work, and the European community could be more active on an international level. The aim of this meeting is to gather young European researchers in our field, to get them in touch with internationally renowned researchers and to establish networks for their academic future. Please note that this meeting is a training school dedicated for formation.
On the first day senior researchers and internationally known professors will give an insight into various useful, interesting and important topics for Tangible Interaction. During the following days, the Phd students will have the opportunity to present their research and to conduct workshops for their colleagues and master students (3 days all together). There is a lot of room for informal exchange and discussion. One focus will be on meeting interesting people in a friendly and inspiring atmosphere. The studio will cover the following topics: Instrumental Interaction; Model, design and specific approach; Tangible Interfaces and History; Tangible Musical Interfaces; Interaction and physicality

L’Interaction tangible est un domaine de recherche portant sur des concepts et des techniques à la frontière du monde physique et du monde numérique. Depuis des années, les chercheurs, des designers, les praticiens et les artistes du monde entier travaillent sur les fondements théoriques et empiriques, les cadres techniques, la réalisation de prototypes et la conception d'interfaces tangibles. Cependant, beaucoup de choses restent encore à faire et la communauté européenne, autour de la communauté allemande déjà bien présente, pourrait être plus présente sur le plan international. L’objectif de ces journées est de fédérer les jeunes chercheurs de ce domaine pour construire l’avenir de la discipline. Notez bien que ces journées sont destinées à de la formation.
La première journée animée par les chercheurs séniors, Professeur reconnus internationalement, aborderont divers sujets utiles et pertinents pour l’Interaction Tangible. Les journées suivantes donneront la parole aux doctorants à la fois pour présenter leurs travaux de recherche, sur deux jours, mais également pour, les deux derniers jours, animer des ateliers aux bénéfices de leurs condisciples et des étudiants de Master. Une large place sera faite aux échanges informels, aux rencontres et aux discussions, dans un cadre et une atmosphère agréables et accueillants.

Tangible Interaktion ist ein Forschungsfeld das sich im Grenzbereich zwischen physisch wahrnehmbarer und digitaler Realität bewegt. Seit mehreren Jahren arbeiten Forscher, Designer, Praktiker und sogar Künstler an den theoretischen und empirischen Grundlagen, den technologischen Frameworks als auch an der Konzeption und Realisierung von Prototypen.
Trotzdem gibt es noch viele offene Fragen. Die europäische Fachcommunity die sich um die bereits international sichtbare deutsche community gruppiert könnte noch deutlich sichtbarer werden. Das Ziel des Workshops ist es junge europäische Forscher in diesem Feld zusammenzubringen und damit zukünftige europäische Forschung in diesem Bereich zu fördern.
Am ersten Tag werden international anerkannte und erfahrene Forscherpersönlichkeiten verschiedene relevante Themen im Bereich Tangible Interaction präsentieren. An den folgenden Tagen besteht dann die Möglichkeit für die teilnehmenden Doktoranden ihre Forschungsthemen und Arbeiten vorzustellen und zu diskutieren und dann in den letzten beiden Tagen Workshops mit den anderen Teilnehmern und Masterstudenten durchzuführen.
Informellen Diskussionen, Treffen und der Netzwerkbildung in einer angenehmen und entspannten Atmosphäre wird eine hohe Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet.
